HARD WATER SOLUTIONS:
There are a few things you could do to soften your water. It is only reasonable that the first is a water softener. However, make sure you continue reading, because in addition to the various types of water softeners, we want to tell you all the other steps you can take to make your water better. If you are curious about the difference between distilled and purified water, don’t forget to read this article!
Water softeners:
A water softener plant can be the best solution if you indeed have hard water and all the problems that arise from it. These devices drain the water into a resin bed to exchange hard ions with soft ions. This resin bed will build up hard ions, and with most of the softeners you will need to clean it. The most important chemical for this cleaning process is the salt in the container. Another term we use for this cleaning process is the ‘regeneration’ process, and it is executed on a time basis that is activated by a control panel. This of course depends on the hardness of the water. Some of the more efficient systems even work based on the use of water that is not on a tap. Here are the main types of water softeners:
Salt water softeners:
These are just about the classic water softeners. They are super popular and are also called Ion Exchange Softeners. As their name suggests, this is also the primary process that takes place there.
Salt-free water softeners:
Keep in mind that when we talk about water softening, salt is an essential ingredient. You cannot really soften your water without using salt. For this reason, even though there are salt-free water softeners, their effectiveness does not come close to the effectiveness of the other species. These systems are actually water softeners, and they don’t really remove anything from your water. Salt-free softeners will also not reduce the hard water minerals.
Their primary goal is to make it difficult for the minerals to form a structure and clog your pipes. When it comes to crane maintenance, you will probably see some difference and feel some relief. However, they are not exactly softeners.
Double tank of water softeners:
Because these softeners come in pairs, you can safely say that they are the ‘big boys’ of water softening. With double tank water softeners you get two large iron tanks and a salted tank. Such a system is only a good option for households with a lot of water consumption, because it can be considered as a heavy-duty system.
This construction ensures that you have soft water all day long. When one of the tanks is reformed, the other is still fully functional and can provide you with processed water. Logically these systems are much more expensive, but in the long term you will certainly enjoy excellent results.
Magnetic water descalers:
This is the most unusual type of softener. It is not a very popular system, probably because it is considered an alternative. Don’t get us wrong though, this system also has its advantages, the biggest thing is a hassle-free service.
Magnetic descalers are electrical devices that do not interfere with your piping system in any way. The most important thing is that no installation is required, that there are no bypass valves and that no pipes are disconnected. The only things you have are a few wires that you need to wind around your water inlet pipes, and voila, you’re done!
The plug-in device generates a magnetic field around your pipes. Then the water reforms all the properties of the minerals. These softeners, similar to the non-salty ones, are not incredibly useful. Nevertheless, they prevent scale build-up in your water supply system and fittings.
